Mattias led the qBionano project at Imperial College London between 2017–2019.

Research background

Mattias obtained his BSc and MSc in 2012 from Lund University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, and his PhD in 2016 from the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, University of Melbourne in Australia.

Following collaborative postdoctoral research with the Bionics Institute in Australia, he was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow at Imperial College London in the UK, where he led the EU-funded research project qBionano.

In 2017, he was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship from the European Union; during this process he was selected as 1 of 30 “highly promising researchers” out of the 8,916 funding proposals submitted.

Mattias is an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (AMRSC), an Honorary Research Fellow of the Bionics Institute, an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne, and a Member of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Convergent Bio-Nano Science and Technology.
